CELSI researchers presented and chaired at the EFFAT webinar on strategies for organising young workers

Jan. 22, 2025
After the welcome and introduction by Enrico Somaglia (General Secretary of EFFAT), CELSI researcher Adam Šumichrast presented the project “Stronger Hospitality: Objectives and Findings” and gave a speech on how trade unions can help young workers in hospitality, who are facing unique challenges.
This presentation is based on research conducted by CELSI together with the Italian Association for Studies on Labour and Industrial Relations - ADAPT.
After a panel discussion of young affiliates explaining their challenges in working conditions in hospitality, CELSI director Marta Kahancová chaired a panel of affiliates on the strategies developed by trade unions to recruit and organize young workers.
They shared good practices from across Europe, such as recruitment strategies, membership models, youth committees, examples of successful campaigns, and collective bargaining agreements with provisions specifically tailored to young workers.
